Antelope Canyon / Horseshoe Bend | Glen Canyon NRA

What can be said about the series of Antelope Canyon adventures at Glen Canyon NRA that hasn't already been stated?

Most explorers already know that you can tour Upper Antelope Canyon, Lower Antelope Canyon, or the flooded portion via Lake Powell. The hikes must be guided by an authorized Navajo Nation guide, while the lake adventure can be done via kayak, powerboat, or jet ski.

For our trip, we chose to first visit via a rented boat on Lake Powell. You can read our Lake Powell story here: http://www.livetoexplore.co/travel/glen-canyon-2019-lake-powell

Angie made an appointment for the 9 of us (two families) for the afternoon on our 2nd day in the area. Since we had a little time in the morning, we made the trek through the parking lot ($10/vehicle, passes not accepted) to see Horseshoe Bend. The short walk is nice and tranquil, you get to meet hundreds of new friends ;)
Still the spectacle of one of the most photographed sections of the Colorado River is a cool sight to see. If you try really hard, you can make it look like no one else is there =)

Off to our next touristy adventure: Lower Antelope Canyon. As you would expect, there were also hundred of people here either waiting for their turn to trek down the stairs, or perusing the gift shop after their tour.

Even though it's a guided experience, once we got down the stairs and spread out a bit, Lower Antelope was quiet and, well, simply amazing. These photos don't even come close to doing justice to the wind and water sculpted sandstone. While were not able to get the 'light beam' shot that the are is so famous for, we ended up with many more photos than we know what to do with. Please enjoy our favorites below.
